Chicago's Design Retail Scene: Jayson Home and Garden

Over Priced? or Fun Finds that are worth splurging on?

Every time I visit Jayson Home and Garden I find my self confused. It smells like a thrift store, looks like a Bohemian Soho loft, but has the prices of a Oak street boutique.   I am always amazed by the exuberant array of home accents and vintage finds, but can never afford to 'blow my wad' on my seemingly silly finds.... (see $1500.00 taxidermy peacock below).

Chicago's Design Retail Scene: Painted Lady

The Painted Lady, a unique  place to shop, is an ever-changing collection of hand-painted antique furniture pieces and accessories. From French provincial dining tables, apothecary jars, and vintage chandeliers to hand painted signs, original artwork and farmhouse finds.

Owner, Beth Brace, keeps a customer wish list in her pocket while hunting for fabulous wares at antique markets. When your desired item is found repainting, distressing, and other treatments are available upon request.
Feminine linen ruffles mixed with a small dose of Urban minimalism creates a nice balance.

Ski Trip: Apres-Ski

This week I embark on an adventure with dear friends to Menver AKA Denver Colorado.  Like any girl the first thing I do after booking a flight is plan my trip attire in my head.... what I'll wear to look chic during every activity... what new purchases I need to make.... and how my current wardrobe will work. After reviewing my personally owned  ski options in my head I know exactly what my next purchase should be.  A 80's vintage ski suit or new chic jacket.

Style Guru Wallis Jordan brought to my attention that CK Bradley has been designing preppy east coast apparel for years, and just recently came out with her ski line apres

Après-ski (French: after skiing) refers to going out, having drinks, dancing, and generally socializing after skiing. It is popular in the Alps, where skiers often stop at bars on their last run of the day while still wearing all their ski gear.
